Maria João

She began her dance studies at the age of four, with Professor Margarida de Abreu. Later she accomplished her training at the prestigious Dance School of the National Conservatory in Lisbon.

 

She continued her dance studies at the Danse Classique Princesse Grace Academy in Monte-Carlo under the guidance of Marica Bresovasova and at the École Internationalle de Danse Rosella Hightower, under the supervision of Marica Bresovasova. and José Parés.

 

At the end of 1976 she joined the Gulbenkian Ballet, where she worked with teachers Carlos Caldas, Jorge Garcia, Maryon Lane, Hans Brenne, Irena Milovan and Roland Casenaves among others and with choreographers Carlos Trincheiras, Vasco Wellenkamp, ​​Olga Roriz, Gagik Ismailyan, Paulo Ribeiro, Benvindo Fonseca, Christopher Bruce, Milko Sparemblek, Jiri Kyliam and Hans Van Manen, among others.

 

From 1985 to 2015 she was a dance teacher and choreography assistant at the Margarida de Abreu Studio. In 1994 and 1998 she participated as a guest teacher at the Escola Superior de Dança de Lisboa. In 1999 she taught at the Companhia de Dança do Tejo. Since April 2015 she is a teacher at Jazzy Saldanha and this year at MSB Studio.
